FAMILY ENRICHMENT COURSE
Hillrange, in consonance with it’s philosophy of recognizing and upholding the lofty place of parents in the education of children, offers them continuous support in this endeavour. The Family Enrichment Course (FEC) is a five week training programme for parents of JS 1 and SS 1 students. It holds ones a week, and using the case study approach, exposes the participating parents to a myriad of experiences in bringing up pre-adolescent and adolescent boys. The parents study the cases in advance and discuss them in class. The Nigerian Association for Family Development (NAFAD), a non-profit organization runs FEC for the school.
As a condition for admission of a child into Hillrange School, the parents (dad and mom) participate in the Family Enrichment Course even before the students resume for the first time. Parents attend a second module of the course just before their sons get to SS 1 and this focuses on adolescence.
